Hi,

Just to let you know if they pay £0.02 and sell for £1.00 the Gross margin is 98% but the actual mark up percentage is 4900% !!! e.g. a 100% mark up would be 4p, 200% 6p, 300% 8p and so on...

This is huge profit for them if they are only paying 2p per click. a £20000 investment by them could turn in to £1,000,000 !!!!!!!

wish I could get that much profit lol.

If any body does seriously want to have a PCP advertising campaign managed let me know I will save you money and get your business.

Salesmen ALWAYS do a good job. The trouble is they sell from a script and its usually miles away from the actual service provided. Stupidly I used BT Search Smart not for its pay per click management but for its SEO input i.e. Site review but more importantly Link Building.
I have to say the site review was useful and gave me a few good pointers to improve things. The link building was abysmal - the sales guy said they would build 50 links per month over the 3 month minimum contract period. After 2 months I had NONE. I contacted them and was told "Not 50 per month - 50 per contract"! I moaned and groaned without result. "OK so where are my 50 links"? I say. "Well it does take a few weeks for the links to propurgate through" I was told "But here is a list of the 50 links we have built".
The list looked OK as far as it goes so being patient I waited until nearly at the end of the 3 months - still no links so I cancelled.

That was 2 months ago (so 5 months in all) - Number of links to my site via BT Search Smart NONE, ZERO, ZILCH. The exercise cost me £500 - I did get the review though which I could have had done for £75 elsewhere.

Why did I go with BT in the first place? Well to be honest there are so many total rip off merchants in this industry who for instance will sign you up on a month by month contract so you thing OK I can cancel if it doesn't work but when you do you read the small print which says they require 1 months notice to cancel so you paid your first month at the start then you can't give 1 month's notice cos your already into it so you are bound to a 2nd month. No I went with BT because of the name - well established with a modicum of trust associated to it. Think again - DON'T USE BT Search Smart.

The salesman did a very good job on me. I was told that web clicks would direct traffic to my web site and guarantee me increase income. Absolute rubbish. He also told me that I could review the package after 3 months and cancel if it was not working. Which I emailed BT to cancel but hey said they did not recieve my email as it went to the wrong department. I have checked many times putting my keywords in thru google and my web site rarely comes up. Tonight 8th July i put all mt keywords in and nothing. I can't talked to the salesman who sold me this package because of my complaint against him. Now they are threatning me with court action if i don't pay. They have well an truley shafted me for £2,400 a year. Has anyone successfuly won against BT web clicks? if so whats your advice?

Unfortunately, I came across this site far too late. I signed up for BT web clicks last September, after a very convincing salesman assured my husband & myself that he could get us 80 extra contacts a month. We were struggling to grow our business due to it's uniqueness and the salesman told us he could turn that around by giving us a new domain name to encourage people looking for other things to find our web site.It all sounded quite plausable, especially as he assured us every telephone contact would be preceded by a BT message and all e-mail contacts would have a BT prefix also. He said out of 80 new contacts if we only got between 5-10% it would pay for the advertising.I felt sure that if we had 80 new contacts a month I could sell my business to probably 20-30% of those so it seemed failsafe, especially with a money back guarantee. I couldn't have been more wrong! In 9 months I can honestly say I have had NO phone call enquiries and NO e-mails. I have contacted BT on several occasions to tell them that I could not access my web site to make changes, was unhappy with the lack of contacts but was met on each occasion with rudeness and lack of helpful advise - I gave up. I contacted Which? online services to see if they could help but was asked to pay an annual fee to access their legal advice team, so I gave up again and resigned myself to paying my £200 a month up until the end of the 12 month contract in September. I am a very small business and am now struggling to make enough money to pay the BT web clicks monthly fee so I am gutted and am on the point of closing my business thanks to the BT web clicks con.

I had the misfortune to sign up to this scheme 1 year ago. The promise involved being able to monitor response by the no. of phone calls I would get which would begin with "B.T.weblicks contact" or something similar. I can honestly say that in 12 months I have received THREE calls. The first caller asked "is that British Gas?" the second one "is that an auction site?" and the third and last put the phone down when I answered. After 35 years in business this is without doubt the worst value for
money "advertising" I have undertaken and would not recommend it to anyone.
I wonder if it's worth pursuing the money back guarantee offer?

I have read all these comments i thought i was the only one that was suspicious about these web clicks, i was talked into the web clicks last year, the sales rep came out to a building site and i signed up again well wasnt till i got home and looked at the paper work i signed up again . I just wanted to get rid of the guy and finish the job.
I put in a cancelation letter to Dundee office where the guy was based posted it personely, BT say they never received it even though i phoned the following day to confirm they had the letter, was told the cooling off period was 3 days , it does not say a period on the contract i had.

It took them 12 days for Emma to phone me back by this time my old contract had expired and they sayed i could not cancel and the contract had to run for the full 12 months.

I have checked on google yahoo even on there exchanges web site 90% of the web clicks they say i receive i do not come up even using my postcode , i have tryed at the bigining of the month at the end in the middle.
I do not come up for 3 of the main clicks they say are working for me.

I was persuaded top take on BT web clicks 12 months ago. I think it is the biggest advertising scam I have seen in 40 years of being in business.

It was sold to my by saying would I like 40 contacts a month. Not by explaining that it was clicks. My monthly report showed that I had achieved the required number of clicks each month. At most I received 1 or 2 contacts from this source for the full year, even they were doubtfull.

When I tried my own searches, only once did I find my business via google, and on exchanges I never did find my business even when I entered my company name. When I aired my concern I was told that I must have searched after I had received my full compliment of clicks for that month.

I have just had the BT rep leave me, trying to persuade me to go again this year, when I voiced my concerns he just side steeped them and carried on with his spiel. As you can imagine he left without the order.

Has anyone approached BT for a refund and what was the outcome?

The Search Smart service is acutally run by Latitude - one of the UK's biggest digital agencies, if not the biggest. Just remeber visitors don't always equal sales, you can have the best looking website and be top of google for your targetted keywords, but if you've got a crappy website - I'm clicking back.
