As explained in Part 1, YouTube videos get served up in search results, often beating webpages. Let’s presume that you have created some great informative video content for posting on YouTube and now you need to give those videos the best chance of taking the top spot in search results and drive traffic to your site. Here are 5 easy tips:
1. Keywords in Page Titles
Keywords are just as important in YouTube Titles as standard webpages. Think very carefully about your target keywords and ensure they are in the video title.
Make sure your video Title is concise and includes your most important keywords about the subject at the start. Work on the basis of 50 – 60 characters as the optimum length target. 2. Web Address in Description
In your Description, include the full url of your website, or the page most relevant to the video, within the first sentence. If you are uploading multiple videos, be consistent with the placement position. You have plenty of scope here to add up to 5,000 characters of explanatory text, however users will need to click the ‘show more’ link to see more than 25 words or so. Don’t be afraid to ask for ‘likes’ ‘shares’ or ‘Favourites’ here too, as the more you get, the more views you will have and the more likely your video will come higher in search results.
3. Use Your Tags
YouTube gives you the opportunity to tag your video to aid indexing. You’ll find these settings in the Video Manager section. Select your video and Edit. Don’t be tempted to stuff keywords in here, but make sure your company name, and most important keywords/brand you are discussing is mentioned, along with the most relevant keywords for the content. YouTube will also suggest Tags as you enter keywords. Make sure that your video is set for Public viewing.
4. Enable Comments
It is a good idea to allow comments as it shows interactivity, provided that you are prepared to repond and manage them, by approving or disapproving them. Follow this link to YouTube for information about setting up and management of YouTube comments.
5. Share your videos to increase views
You can easily embed your YouTube videos using the code generator to copy and paste onto your website. You can also copy and past links on to your Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other social media profiles, or email the links to others who may have a non-competing business interest (for example a dealer for your products) so that they can promote your video and products themselves.
