The UK is forecast to be the first European country with online sales amounting to more than 12% of its total retail trade.

The Centre for Retail Research was commissioned by Kelkoo to undertake research into online retail, and they conservatively estimate that the UK will reach 12% from the current position of 10.7% for 2010.

Online retailers from only 3 countries in Europe (UK, Germany, France) account for 71% of all European online sales.

Italy, Spain and Poland each have less than 4% of their total retail sales from online, and the European average is 6.9%
