12 September: SEO Masterclass

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a powerful technique that businesses can use to become more successful online. If done right, it can propel your website to the top of Google’s search results page and in front of more consumers. This session will demonstrate how SEO can drive more traffic to your website and have an impact on the bottom line in the long term.

Hallam’s Owned Media Manager Tom Whiley will use practical examples to show you various techniques that you can learn and apply:

  • How to optimise your website for on-page SEO
  • How to optimise for off-page SEO
  • How to rank in local search using local SEO
  • How to create a basic strategic framework for SEO

As Owned Media Manager, Tom plans and delivers digital marketing strategies for key B2B and B2C clients in addition to leading a team of specialists. His expertise is within SEO, Paid Search and Content Marketing.

19 September: Web Design Masterclass

The session will give you the opportunity to find out what guidelines you should follow when designing a new website or updating the existing one for your organisation. You’ll learn how to ensure that your website delivers a seamless user experience, and is fast, secure and meets the highest technical standards. By the end of the session you’ll know how to make the most of the traffic to your website by creating seamless user journeys that drive action.

Julio Taylor, Creative Director at digital marketing agency Hallam, will discuss the principles of putting your customer at the centre of your design project:

  • How to design customer-centric websites
  • Why user experience matters
  • The impact of the connected consumer on web design

Julio started designing and building websites in the late 90s, hacking together Geocities websites, frames and table layouts. After studying Computer Science, he worked as a software developer in the oil industry and public sector, before coming back to digital and web in 2009. Along with Jon Martin, he founded BigSpring, which grew into a highly regarded web agency with a reputation for delivering quality digital experiences.

Following the merger of BigSpring and Hallam in 2017, Julio works as Hallam’s Creative Director, providing strategic leadership across the design and development teams to deliver outstanding digital products. Julio specialises in User Experience (UX), design and strategy.

In this masterclass Jonathan Catton will share his strategies for turning data into actionable insights. Using practical examples and case studies, you will learn tactics for interpreting your data from Google Analytics, Search Console, Google Ads and much much more.
