Nottingham Playhouse has been the beating heart of the city’s art scene since 1948 and is set to mark its 70th year with a special Anniversary Gala this month (Thursday 22 November), including a performance of the five-star-rated production of Alan Bennett’s The Madness of George III, starring Olivier award-winner Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, The League of Gentlemen, Doctor Who, Wolf Hall).
Having acted as a springboard for the careers of stars such as Ian McKellen, Judi Dench and Hugh Grant, it’s easy to forget that the Playhouse is, first and foremost, a charity.
Looking to raise £25,000, the organisation is putting on the star-studded affair, which will include drinks and canape reception in the company of famous faces, a special performance of the critically acclaimed The Madness of George III and access to an exclusive auction of ‘money-can’t-buy’ prizes, as well as post-performance party.
”It is a great honour to support the Nottingham Playhouse to marks it’s 70th year with a performance of The Madness of George III. As with past events, I have no doubt the gala will be a spectacular event with all monies raised going to a worthy cause” said Stuart Ross, Managing Director at Hallam Internet.
