Over the years we have raised thousands of pounds for charities in the Nottingham area, supported local businesses with our buying power and helped inspire the next generation of digital marketers thanks to our work experience placements.
Hallam Internet aims to exceed the norm in both our work and our community engagement. That’s why we are always actively seeking out new ways that we can help create the best society alongside our friends, neighbours and colleagues.
Our responsibilities fall into three broad roles:
- Investing in Our Community
- Supporting Local Charities
- Taking Care of Our Team and Our Customers
And here is how we do it:
Investing in our community
Hallam Internet is proud to be a sponsor and to serve on the advisory board of Enactus NTU, donating our time and resources to this community outreach project.
The initiative sees a team of students from Nottingham Trent University run social projects using entrepreneurial talent to positively impact lives and empower individuals.
Students apply business concepts to deliver community outreach projects and help improve the quality of life for people in need.
Each summer Hallam Internet offers a work experience placement. This year Laura Taylor and Max Moore will be working on a range of digital projects and will be gaining training and coaching from colleagues to help equip them with the skills needed when they move into the world of work.
Ingenuity Lab – University of Nottingham
The Ingenuity Lab helps University of Nottingham students leverage and boost their entrepreneurial and innovation skills. The lab’s over 1600 members benefit from specialist advice on and support with various business issues. In 2017 Susan Hallam shared her digital marketing journey at the Ingenuity17 Conference.
Rushcliffe School Careers Fair
Our colleagues Stanley Dunthorne, Jonathan Catton and Elliot Haines spent an afternoon speaking to pupils and their parents about different career options in digital marketing.
BIMA Digital Day
Hannah Broom and Kevin Kapezi spent one day at the Nottingham Academy talking to pupils about the digital industries as part of the national initiative for agencies and schools BIMA Digital Day. In the morning they talked through digital career opportunities and what it is like to work at a digital marketing agency. In the afternoon pupils were tasked to complete a Dragons Den type challenge with our colleagues’ guidance and submitted their solutions to a national judging panel in the hope to be named Digital Day Champions 2017.
We joined the Nottingham Trent University for an interesting day challenging students to solve a business problem that we presented to them. The students had only 3 hours to tackle our challenge and present their ideas back to us. Their solutions were spot on and we’re considering implementing them.
Supporting Local Businesses
‘She Means Business’ Facebook Training
As part of the ‘She Means Business’ campaign initiated by Facebook and Enterprise Nation, Hallam Internet ran an event to inspire creativity, empower confidence and educate business
women on how to best utilise Facebook and Instagram to grow their businesses. Over 20 female entrepreneurs boosted their digital skills in an all-day training session delivered by Lauren Ahluwalia who is one of only 8 trainers in the country certified by Facebook to deliver ‘She Means Business’ events. She helped our guests learn the best practices of building an active audience through informative Facebook pages, engaging posts and effective adverts. Read more about the event on our blog.
We are proud to be an independent Nottingham company and we want to help others like us prosper. That means buying the contents of our office fruit bowl from Kerry’s Fruit and Veg – a company that has been in Nottingham for more than a century. We also buy our team lunch each Friday from a range of the fantastic catering companies, sandwich shops and delis close to our office. And when it comes to our nights out we always support local restaurants and bars in the city centre.

Supporting Local Charities
The Samaritans of Nottingham
Team Hallam have nominated The Samaritans as their Charity of the Year. We will be organising and participating in a number of events over the coming year to raise as much money as we can for this great cause. The Samaritans offer confidential support for anyone who needs it. Support is available round the clock on the phone and they also visit people locally. For many, The Samaritans is the only place they can turn to without the fear of repercussions.
Our next event will be a lights-off sleepover at the National Justice Museum on 15th September – one of the most haunted venues in Britain. Help us hit our target by donating today.
