Over the years we have raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities in the Nottingham area, supported local businesses with our buying power and helped inspire the next generation of digital marketers thanks to our work experience placements.
Hallam aims to exceed the norm in both our work and our community engagement. That’s why we are always actively seeking out new ways that we can help create the best society alongside our friends, neighbours and colleagues.
Our responsibilities fall into three broad roles:
- Investing in Our Community
- Supporting Local Charities
- Taking Care of Our Team and Our Customers
And here is how we do it:
Framework – Hallam’s charity of the year 2018
Framework has been selected by Team Hallam to be our designated charity for 2018. Framework fights against homelessness and the causes of homeless for individuals across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.
Team Hallam supports Framework in a number of ways.
We have donated tickets to the Nottingham Playhouse which have been used by Framework’s service users and staff.
And we organised the Nottingham Digital Summit. Delegates were asked to make a donation to Framework in lieu of a conference fee, and we are proud to announce that we raised £15,280 for Framework.
Work Experience and Internships
Each summer Hallam offers a work experience placement. In 2018 we welcomed Aleksandra Drach to work on a research project alongside our team.
Tech Talent Charter
Hallam has committed to supporting gender diversity in technology sectors. Specifically, we are creating opportunities for talented women passionate about all things digital.
By signing the Tech Talent Charter we have demonstrated our commitment to diversity
Nottingham Playhouse Sponsorship
Hallam is proud to be a sponsor of Nottingham Playhouse.
We are fully committed to support arts in our local community, and the Nottingham Playhouse is one of our city’s, and the nation’s, most important cultural resources.
As part of our sponsorship we provide training and support to the Playhouse’s digital marketing team.
And we used the iconic Playhouse building for our venue for the 2018 Nottingham Digital Summit with over 600 delegates.
Rushcliffe School Careers Fair
BIMA Digital Day
Kevin Kapezi spent a full day at the Nottingham Academy talking to pupils about the digital industries as part of the national initiative for agencies and schools BIMA Digital Day. In the morning they talked through digital career opportunities and what it is like to work at a digital marketing agency. In the afternoon pupils were tasked to complete a Dragons Den type challenge with our colleagues’ guidance and submitted their solutions to a national judging panel in the hope to be named Digital Day Champions 2017.
Ingenuity Lab – University of Nottingham
The Ingenuity Lab helps University of Nottingham students leverage and boost their entrepreneurial and innovation skills. The lab’s over 1600 members benefit from specialist advice on and support with various business issues. In 2017 Susan Hallam shared her digital marketing journey at the Ingenuity17 Conference.
We joined the Nottingham Trent University for an interesting day challenging students to solve a business problem that we presented to them. The students had only 3 hours to tackle our challenge and present their ideas back to us. Their solutions were spot on and we’re considering implementing them.
