Blog - business bloggingWhy should your business have a blog? I am a great believer that every business should be blogging, and here are the 3 main benefits for your business:

1.  Blog posts demonstrate your expertise

You are passionate about your business, and you’re great at what you do.  Blog posts let you flaunt your knowledge and experience, share your wisdom and can give you real competitive advantage.

It takes time and effort to write a successful blog, but the process of crafting your blog posts have the additional benefit of helping you to clarify your key messages, and force you to think about what your readers/customers want to read.

 

2.  Blogs are great for getting found in the search engines

Question:  What makes websites rank well in the search engines?  Answer: Fresh content, thematic trustworthy content, that other websites relate to.  Your blog is a key part of your search engine optimisation strategy.  It is a tool for publishing timely content.  if you don’t have much time, you can even write an article, and post-date it for later publishing.  When you write a blog post, the blogging software “pings” the search engines and often blog posts are indexed within minutes.  And of course blog posts are real link magnets.  All of which means you may well find your blog posts ranking well in the search engines.

3.  Blogging puts a human face to your website

Hallam is a digital marketing company, but we know that people do business with other people.  And our blog is a great way for us to stay close to you, our customers and prospective customers.

  1. I believe blogs that are unintimidating and friendly to use such as WordPress, are great tools for business owners to utilise within their website. It’s a very simple and effective way of keeping content current and up to date—it’ll also encourage you to write more, as posts are generally written in a much more casual and engaging style than that of static content.

    Hi Bob,

    There are a few ways you can increase your number of readers. Networking with other bloggers – offering guest content (also good for links to your site!), finding ways to help them, even just leaving comments – is a really good way to begin. By the same token, find forums within your niche and post comments there.

    Also, you need to have great content. Make sure that your blog is focused within your niche and use the opportunity to show your expertise. And make sure you update regularly, to give people a reason to come back! You should set up an RSS feed to enable people to subscribe to your posts.
