Hello, I’m Susan Hallam from Hallam Internet and I’d like to tell you the three most common analytics mistakes people make when they’re using Google Analytics.

First mistake – they don’t set up any goals.

Looking at Google Analytics data is of no value if you don’t have any goals. Goals could be something as simple as signing up for a newsletter or perhaps downloading a PDF and most typically it could be a goal recording a visitor buying something.

Setting up goals is free for everyone to do.

Second mistake – people forget to exclude their own visits to their website.

You look at your data and you get lots and lots of visits but low and behold, it’s you, visiting your own website. There’s an ability for you to configure your profile so you don’t capture your own visits to your won website.

Third mistake – not using Google Dashboards.

A Google Dashboard allows you to define the metrics that are most important to you and your business.

And you can set up specific dashboards depending on your specific requirements, whether it be an SEO dashboard or advertising dashboard or social media marketing dashboard.

So there are three of the most typical mistakes we all make when using Google Analytics.
